Faculty of Performing Arts
Drama Department
Trips & Visiting Specialists
The Drama department work with the APA (Aberdeen Performing Arts) team and the Creative Learning team to provide experiences that will enhance their skills and give them opportunities for wider achievement.

Theatre trips are organised within the academic year
and will vary depending on what is coming to the area.
Updates on planned shows can be found here. These will
include the times, locations, ticket prices and travel
arrangements.

Please remember, when trips are arranged by the
department ALL pupils MUST return their permission slips
by the date stated or they will NOT be allowed to attend.

Pupils who are studying at HIGHER level MUST attend at least one performance that is NOT a musical. This is so that they can complete the written paper of the exam for their qualification.

VISITING SPECIALISTS & OTHER TRIPS

Working with Aberdeen City Council's Creative Learning team has enabled us to create and provide opportunities this academic year for our pupils. They have been given the chance to work with professionals from places like 'Letter Room Theatre Company' and 'The Royal Scottish Conservatoire'. These have proven to be a great success and something that our S3 pupils have greatly enjoyed.

Theatre Trip

The first trip that the department are organising
this year will be to see Steel Magnolias by
Robert Harding. This is performed by Studio
Theatre group.

"Steel Magnolias by Robert Harding explores the bond
shared by a group of women in a small-town community
in the American south and how they cope with the tragic
death of one of their own.
The title suggests that these women are as delicate as
Magnolias but "as tough as steel".
Aberdeen's Studio Theatre Group look forward to this
new Comedy Drama led by Director, Bruce Taylor with
his stellar cast of local actresses"

The show will run from Wednesday 11th - Friday 13th
October 2017. Ticket prices are: £15 and concessions £11.

The school will be running this trip on Wednesday 11th October 2017 in the evening. If your son/daughter is interested in coming along, please ask them to see either Miss Pendleton or Mr Stuart for more details.
