The Drama Department aims to bring opportunities for wider achievement for the pupils of St. Machar Academy.

S1/2 Drama Club

The S1/2 Drama Club has been running for several years and is held during lunchtime. All pupils in first and second year are welcome and encouraged to participate. The club takes place in Drama 1 with Miss Pendleton and Mr Stuart.

We actively encourage the older pupils to come along and develop their leadership skills by helping to run the club with the younger pupils. This allows them to foster positive relationships with the younger cohort of pupils within the school whilst developing their own skills for life and skills for work.

Drama Club aims to include pupils of all abilities and can help them in very different ways. The pupils have fun working with and making friends. It also helps to develop their confidence in their own abilities.

It is hoped that in the upcoming academic year, some of the work can be showcased in the faculty's summer concert.

MONDAY LUNCH TIME

During Monday lunch times a group of pupils are coming together in Drama 1. they are going to work towards creating Drama performances for the Christmas concert and Christmas services.

Any pupils wanting to come along and join this group is welcome. Please bring your lunch with you.

Film Club

This year the Drama Department has started to run a Film Club. This was a success before the summer holidays and pupils have agreed that this would be a good thing to continue with during the autumn and winter months.

Although so far the current S2 pupils have been the ones to attend, the Film Club is going to open to ALL year groups. Members of staff will put out letters to parents detailing the films to be shown each term.

This club allows pupils to leave reviews on the 'Into film' web page, which is helping to develop their ICT and literacy skills.

This session the Film Club will start with the following films:

“Hidden Figures” PG (120 minutes) - 18th September 2017

“A Dog’s Purpose” PG (100 minutes) – 2nd October 2017

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2” 12A (136 minutes) – 9th October 2017 (this may be split over Monday and Tuesday due to the length of the film)

Please get a letter from the Drama department and complete and return the cut-off slip to participate in this club.
